Mayweather and Pacquiao Game is OFF

NEW YORK (Reuters) – The WBO welterweight title bout between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao next March will not go ahead due to the American's demands for Olympic-style dope testing procedures, promoter Bob Arum said on Wednesday.

Arum, who represents the Filipino champion, said using blood tests for the highly anticipated fight on March 13 was unprecedented for professional fights in Las Vegas.

"As far as I'm concerned, the fight is off," Arum told Reuters in a telephone interview. "We don't object to more extensive drug testing, even though it's certainly not required in Nevada.
"What we're saying is that the drug testing he is proposing is intrusive and would disturb Pacquiao's training if it's done within 30 days of his fight."
Pacquiao had agreed to have blood taken for testing before the initial media conference and after the fight but would not agree to have blood drawn within 30 days of the bout.

TESTING DEMANDS

Mayweather's camp, represented by Golden Boy Promotions, has called for random blood and urine sampling prior to and after the fight as mandated by the U.S. Anti Doping Agency.

Arum suggested the testing demands by Mayweather were the American's way of ducking the fight.

"My gut feeling is Mayweather doesn't want to do the fight and this is his excuse. Period."
Pacquiao was to defend the World Boxing Organization title he won in November by stopping holder Miguel Cotto in the 12th round in Las Vegas for his unprecedented seventh title in seven weight classes.
The best pound-for-pound showdown between Pacquiao (50-3-2) and unbeaten Mayweather (40-0) was expected to be among boxing's biggest revenue-producing fights.
Arum said he could not agree with the testing demands as a matter of protection for Pacquiao, who believes blood testing would weaken him that close to a bout.
The promoter said more extensive testing agreeable to Pacquiao could have been arranged.

"We're saying let's use the drug testing agencies that test athletes in the NFL, NBA or Major League Baseball because they are used to dealing with professional athletes, and they take random urinalysis.

"That is far less intrusive than taking blood which has an effect on the athlete because it's not just a prick of a pin, but actually drawing an extensive amount of blood."

Arum said he was not confident about a compromise, seeing Mayweather's blood-testing demands as a way to "sabotage" the bout.

Daiana Meneses exclusively dating Carlos Guevarra

Though she constantly dates celebrity Carlo Guevarra, hot Brazilian model Daiana Menezes denies that the hunk is already her boyfriend.

''We're together. I cannot tell you na boyfriend ko na siya kasi parang maaga pa. I should know him for at least three years to call him boyfriend. I don't wanna call him my boyfriend. You can say we're exclusively dating,'' explains Daiana in an interview with Manila Bulletin Entertainment Online after GMA-7's press party on Dec. 14.

Rumors has it that Carlo is now considering Daiana ''the most influential person in his life,'' and that it is the main reason he moved to GMA-7 from ABS-CBN.

Daiana denied encouraging Carlo to leave his 'Kapamilya' behind.

''I gave him a few tips. I always advise him for the best. What he does in his private life, it is up to him. I used whatever connections I have just to give him the best pero it's really up to him. I can't say tinuruan ko siya. Ask mo na lang siya kasi parang ang pangit naman na sabihing dahil sa akin kaya siya lumipat,'' she said.

The Brazilian beauty met Carlo on the set of ''Lipgloss,'' the now defunct youth-oriented TV 5 show.

The two were paired together in the series and love seemed to have bloomed between them. Not surprisingly, they have been spotted a lot of times hanging out in malls, bars and events.

Daiana is aware that Carlo was once linked to singer Yeng Constantino.

''I never met her. Whatever issue that came out, wala akong alam. When I met him [Carlo], he's free,'' she said, adding, ''Wala akong inagaw.''

Daiana considers herself ''more Pinay'' now. She said she loves the Philippines, which has been her home for more than two years.

''I love this place. Gusto ko talaga dito. If I could stay here for good, I will.''

The model is interested in doing a full-length movie in the future. She has done cameo roles in two movies so far.

As for her choice of leading man, Daiana mentioned Aljur Abrenica.

Contract Proposed for Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. in March

MANILA, Philippines – Manny Pacquiao has officially signed on to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. in what could be the biggest and richest fight in boxing history, the Filipino ring icon’s trainer said today.

Speaking to 8CountNews, Freddie Roach confirmed that his ward has indeed placed his signature on the fight contract, adding that the bout will be held on March 13.

“March 13th is the date, that's not going to change,” he told 8CountNews.
The multi-awarded trainer said that with Pacquiao inking the deal, it is now up to Mayweather to complete his end the deal.

“Well anything is possible with Floyd Mayweather involved, but we signed our contract and that's all I care about. There is nothing that I can do about the other guy. I don't know if they officially signed, but we have,” Roach said.

The bespectacled trainer added that among the things that the Pacquiao camp has agreed on were the glove size to be used and the weight class on which the fight would be held. He, however, did not provide further details.

“Everything looks good. We have agreed on the glove size, and the weight. I talked to (Pacquiao’s promoter Bob) Arum, Dallas wants the fight, MGM wants the fight, Yankee Stadium wants the fight, so it's just trying to find out where the venue is. The fight looks good,” Roach said.

And with the fight now closer to being finalized, how does Roach see Pacquiao matching up against Mayweather?

“It's a difficult fight, it's the most difficult style for us to go against because he (Mayweather) is a runner and a counter-puncher. We will go to camp and we will make some changes, we will set traps for this guy. This is completely opposite of the (Miguel) Cotto fight, opposite of the (Ricky) Hatton fight, and opposite from the (Oscar) De La Hoya fight. We will come up with a new game plan, a 10-week camp, and some changes. We will work on setting traps and taking Floyd's speed away from him,” he explained.

A Pacquiao-Mayweather bout would pit two of the best pound-for-pound fighters in their primes. It is expected to shatter existing pay-per-view records, with both fighters having proven themselves to be mammoth box-office draws. - By Dino Maragay (Philstar News Service, www.philstar.com)

Heart denies quarrel with Jericho's current girl

Actress Heart Evangelista denied recent allegations that she had pestered Jericho Rosales's girlfriend with text messages, which seemingly alludes to her not having been able to move on as yet from her separation with the actor.

"Hindi ako nang-aaway. I've never done that. In fact, ako ang nakaka-recieve ng text pero hindi ako magsasalita. I feel bad about that," Heart said during the media huddle for "Full House," a new show to start Monday, Nov. 30, on GMA-7.

Heart claimed she's loveless but admitted that she is currently dating.

"Meron akong dine-date, pero friendly dates lang because I'm not ready for serious things."

One of her constant dates is Ian Dy, who incidentally, was her first boyfriend. They were in a relationship when she was 17; a time she was making a name for herself in show business.

"We were [involved] mga two years and a half. Although boto ang parents ko sa kanya, I was too young then."

Heart considers Ian her 'closest guy friend'.

"Everytime na nagkakaroon ako ng problem, siya lagi ang kausap ko. Alam niya ang sitwasyon ko."

Heart emphasized, though, that there is nothing serious going on between them.

"[Sabi ko sa kanya,] date muna tayo pero ayoko ng commitment. Ang tagal kong nawala sa family ko. Parang gusto kong makabonding ang family ko kaysa maka-date ko ang [supposed] boyfriend ko. At saka hindi ako nababaliw. Kapag in love ka, hindi ba baliw ka?

"Hindi naman sa super source of inspiration ko si Ian. Pinukpok na nga ako ng Diyos sa ulo. I don't prioritize my love life now. Balanse ang buhay ko, hindi 'yong parang wala akong magawa."

Heart said taping "Full House" in Prague, Czech Republic, was "a wonderful experience." She lauded the professionalism of the crew they worked with.

"They're so professional...[always] on time. They worked 12 hours so it's nice. It's also good na maaga natatapos ang taping. Walang wasted time."

The actress said she felt quite at home working in Prague.

"May mga times lang na malamig na malamig, 'yon lang. Sa pagkain, okay lang. Actually, hindi naman ako nagkakanin, pero nag-effort sila na gumawa ng kanin. Walang major adjustment, malamig lang talaga siya."

The beauty of Prague didn't tickle any romantic strings for the actress.

"Wala akong naalala because I've never been to Europe. It's more of enjoying myself lang, exploring. Bumili ako ng painting. Very symbolic siya. 'Yong babae naka-red tapos 'yong kasayaw niya, blurred.

"One day, balik ako doon na meron nang kasayaw."

Alma Moreno denies breakup with husband

MANILA - Actress-turned-politician Alma Moreno denied reports that she had separated from her husband, Marawi City Mayor Sultan Fahad "Pre" Salic.
In an interview, Moreno said she and Salic are still married. The only way they are separated, she said, is by distance.

"That's fine kahit sabihin nilang hiwalay kami. Hindi po totoo. Hindi po totoo na hiwalay ako sa kanya. Hiwalay kami dahil nasa Marawi City siya [at] nandito ako sa ParaƱaque," said Moreno, who was elected Councilor of ParaƱaque in 2007.
The couple married last March 21 at the Vistamar Resort in Cebu City. This is both Moreno's and Salic's second marriage.

Moreno said she and her Muslim husband try to make time for each other, even if their cities are 497 miles apart.

"Kung may time kami, kahit saglit lang, kung ilang days lang kami magkita. Pero quality naman. Saka ramdam mo 'yong pagmamahal sa isa't isa ay happy na ako doon. Masaya na kami sa isa't isa," she said.

Moreno was a former girlfriend of action star Rudy Fernandez, King of Comedy Dolphy Quizon and comedian Joey Marquez.

Prior to Salic, she had dated actor Gerard Madrid, who was 20 years her junior. Moreno (born Vanessa Lacsamana) shot to fame in 1976 when she worked on the film "Bitayin si Baby Ama" with co-star Rudy Fernandez.

The onscreen pair bore a son, actor Mark Anthony Fernandez.
When the romance with Fernandez fizzled, she paired up with Quizon, with whom she has a son - Vandolph Quizon.

In 1992, Moreno married Marquez. In their 12 years of marriage, they had 4 children: Yeoj, VJ, Winwyn and Em Em. In 2004, however, Moreno and Marquez split.

Moreno had a few brief relationships after the separation until she met and fell in love with Salic at the Philippine Councilor's League, where Moreno acted as the national secretary general.
